On October 19 - 20, CVHS is participating in the Steuben County History Awareness Week, which is a Museum Trail of Steuben County’s Historical Treasures and is sponsored by the Steuben County Historian and the County Historical Society. There are 20 locations on the Trail, and an outstanding booklet and map have been developed to guide visitors, from Wayland to West Union, from Prattsburgh to Painted Post. The maps and booklets are available at the Arkport Public Library. Details: Saturday, 10am - 5pm; Sunday, noon - 5pm. It is an impressive event. The link is: https://bit.ly/SC-HistoryTrailMap.
When the publications went to the printers, the CVHS expected to have a pop-up museum at the Village Hall, therefore the location in the booklet and map is 6 Park Avenue. People will be re-directed to 5 East Avenue, where we will host an “as-is” stop on the trail. There will be a temporary timeline exhibit about Arkport’s history in the two front rooms.
In addition, during the Museum Trail event, we are inviting the folks in this area to a SOFT OPENING of our house. Everyone is welcome to stop in to visit and to enjoy the Museum Trail stop, whether you continue on the Trail or not.
